Job Title: Sales Engineer (Energy)

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Description

  • We are looking for a confident, technically sound, and commercially driven Sales Engineer to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the power or oil and gas industry, with the ability to bridge technical understanding and business strategy to drive revenue growth.
  • This role goes beyond basic selling, it requires someone who understands how to assess client needs, recommend the right solutions, manage complex sales processes, and most importantly, close deals and win contracts.
  • You will play a key role in identifying high-potential opportunities, presenting customized technical solutions, and negotiating successful outcomes that benefit both the client and the company.
  • You must be capable of articulating value, building trust with technical and executive stakeholders, and seeing each opportunity through from engagement to final contract signature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the power or oil and gas sector by leveraging your industry knowledge, professional network, and strategic prospecting.
  • Engage with prospective clients to understand their technical requirements and business objectives, recommending tailored solutions that meet their needs.
  • Prepare and deliver high-impact technical and commercial proposals that clearly outline the benefits and Return of Investment of your recommended solutions.
  • Lead negotiations and drive the full sales cycle from first contact to contract signing, with a clear focus on closing deals and winning profitable contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, procurement, and operations to ensure proposed solutions are viable, competitive, and aligned with execution capabilities.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, technical sessions, site visits, and industry events to promote products, build credibility, and strengthen relationships.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFQs, and technical inquiries with well-structured documentation and timely follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, proposals, client communications, and sales performance metrics.
  • Track market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform sales strategy and product positioning.
  • Provide post-sale support by coordinating service delivery, ensuring client satisfaction, and identifying opportunities for repeat or expanded business.

Qualifications

  • Must have a First-Class Bachelor’s Second Class degree/HND in Engineering or a related technical field from a reputable university in Nigeria or abroad.
  • Must have graduated from a reputable university/Polytechnicwithin or outside Nigeria.
  • A Master’s degree or relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Must have prior experience working in the power or oil and gas industry, with proven exposure to project or product-based sales.
  • Must have strong technical knowledge with the ability to understand and explain complex engineering products or services.
  • Must be results-oriented with a strong track record of closing sales and winning contracts in a competitive market.
  • Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to influence both technical and business decision-makers.
  • Must be confident in delivering presentations, preparing proposals, and leading client discussions.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple sales cycles and client relationships simultaneously.
  • Must be comfortable working under pressure, meeting targets, and delivering on revenue goals.
